When to change your Windshield wipers

Windshield wipers are an important safety feature on your vehicle, and it’s important to keep them in good working condition. The general rule of thumb is that you should replace your wipers every six months to a year, or whenever you notice that they’re not functioning properly.

Here are a few signs that it may be time to replace your wipers:

  • Streaking: If your wipers are leaving streaks on your windshield, it could be a sign that the blades are worn or dirty. Cleaning the blades with a cloth or wiper blade cleaner can help, but if the streaks persist, it’s probably time to replace the blades.
  • Chattering: If your wipers are making a chattering noise when they’re in use, it’s a sign that the blades are worn and no longer making proper contact with the windshield.
  • Skipping: If your wipers are skipping across the windshield, it’s a sign that the blades are bent or otherwise damaged.
  • Dry rubber: If the rubber on the blades has become dry, cracked, or brittle, it’s a sign that the blades are old and need to be replaced.
  • Another tip is to check the condition of your wipers when you fill up your gas tank, or check it during your regular car maintenance check and change them when it is needed.

Please note that these are general guidelines and you should refer to the instructions on your vehicle’s manual to see the exact recommendations of the manufacturer.
