At Legendary Automotive and Truck Services, we love Ford vehicles, just like the community we serve!
Legendary has technicians that are trained and experienced in the service and repair of Ford cars, trucks, and SUVs. We often see Ford vehicles that still have problems after the customer has spent a considerable amount to repair a problem at another shop.
We stand behind our diagnosis and our repairs - and diesels, we do those, too, and can often help customers make the best decision for themselves.
Here in Florida, especially in Southwest Florida, Ford Trucks are a very popular vehicle, and it is easy to see why! While many people talk about Ford and its legendary legacy being the reason for this popularity, the truth in FL seems to be something much simpler…
At first glance, it comes down to the trucks, and specifically how Ford Trucks fit into SW Florida culture.
The ruggedness of the Ford F-Series is a great compliment to both the hard-working labor culture and the salt life culture that exists in the Fort Myers and Cape Coral metropolitan area. Whether the driver is a labor professional who works in roofing, construction, landscaping, or hauling, or is someone enjoying luxury by taking their boat to their favorite launch for some salt living, it is easy to see how the most popular truck (and it is the most popular - one Ford F-150 gets sold every 60 seconds!) in American history continues to be an important part of Florida’s culture.
While the trucks that Ford produces are one of the biggest influences on the popularity of the brand, there are many other reasons that Ford remains popular over 100 years after the invention of the brand. Ford offers:
As you can see, Ford does more than just produce trucks. The company produces a large number of vehicles, has a commitment to quality and innovation, and the company insists on offering more value for your money than the competition.
It does not matter what your particular taste is for Fords - our ASE Certified Master Technicians love all things Ford, and they can get you in for a quality Ford service or repair and get you back out on the road.
When Ford made the Thunderbird in the 1950’s, it was the opposite of the fast sports cars that were being manufactured by a number of other companies, with a strong focus on comfort and convenience. When Ford put its focus here, many people felt that the car company was shying away from the creation of luxury sports cars.
This thought was disproved in 1965 when Ford unveiled its first Mustang, which proved to be a critical and commercial success nationwide. Coincidentally, the Mustang is still the most popular sports car in the world, and many of these are sold every year (more on this later).
In addition to the iconic Mustang, Ford also produces the Shelby (another version of the Mustang), and Ford offers the option of the ST or GT performance engines to be used in some other models of their vehicles.
This creates another reason that Ford is popular in Florida…
While you will not use a Mustang or a Mustang Shelby to tow your boat or jet ski, with a year-round summer there is no better place to take out a fast and fancy sports car and just go cruising!
Few cars are as synonymous with the American dream as the Ford Mustang.
Ford decided that it was going to appeal to the younger generation by creating a vehicle that was attractive and sporty, and the result was the launch of the Ford Mustang in 1965.
Not only did Ford launch what would become the most popular sports car of all time, they created an entire new subsection of the car manufacturing industry - whether you call it the sports car, the muscle car, or the original name of “pony car”, the fact is that the Ford Mustang changed the course of automobile history.
As time has moved on, the Mustang has grown in size, shrunk in size, innovated, returned to its roots and original design, and with all of these changes the brand continues to draw in new buyers. This point can be easily seen when you note that the Mustang has been the best selling sports car in the world for 50 years out of its 55-year history.
The ‘Stang even sells well in Germany, France, and Poland, beating out many of the European sports cars that these nations have easy access to. The point here is that Mustang is so iconic as a sports car that everyone wants one, no matter where they are!
Where the original Mustang was designed for appearance, and basically to feel like youth capture in an automobile, there was something that wasn’t there that many people wanted.
While the Mustang base model does have a good amount of power, where many people felt this vehicle lacked was in performance. The ability to take turns at higher speeds, quickly getting up to a cruising speed, and just a sportier look and feel were all hallmarks of the Shelby when it was created, and it is a legacy that continues on to this day.
So what are the improvements that the Shelby has over the standard Mustang that makes it more appealing?
The Shelby is essentially a Mustang with upgrades. The transmission has been supercharged, the suspension has been improved with independent rear suspension, enhanced braking systems, and power-assist electric steering.
Additionally, while it is not for regular road use, the Mustang Shelby GT also offers Launch Control and Electronic Line Lock features.
While trucks like the F-150 and sports cars like the Mustang and Shelby remain some of the hallmarks for Ford, there are a large number of popular vehicles that Ford produces that are available:
The bottom line here is that Ford is willing to offer a large number of vehicles to its customer base, and it has a number of different models for each person - it is one of the few brands that offers quality and consistency in both high-end and economy vehicles. This commitment to offering quality throughout all levels of ownership is one of the reasons why Ford is still one of the most popular car brands in the world.
The Ford F-Series of trucks is headed up by the very popular F-150, and while this is popular, at Legendary we work on the following models of the Ford F-Series:
There are larger Ford trucks, such as the F-650 and the F-750, which are best serviced by shops that specialize in heavy equipment.
Each truck in the Ford F-Series line has historically been offered with a Ford Powerstroke Diesel engine in its vehicles, although within the past couple of years Ford has begun offering a gas-powered engine in the Ford F-150, F-250, and F-350 models.
Whether you opt for a gas or a Ford Powerstroke Diesel engine, these vehicles are built to work. Whether you are towing or hauling, you want to make sure that these vehicles are running so that you can get back to your normal daily routine.
Piggy-backing off of the idea of affordability, Ford consistently rates the highest in the value that you get for the money spent. This is not to say that Ford has the cheapest prices, but to say that Ford offers the best exchange for your money.
For example, Ford sells several $25,000 SUVs that offer advanced features, to include Infotainment, green technology, torque vectoring, high-performance engines, AdvanceTrack stability control, enhanced safety features, and sharp designs.
This is not about the cars themselves, but this is one of the reasons that people will go out of their way to buy Ford cars, trucks, or SUV’s.
Many companies export manufacturing positions to foreign nations to lower the price per good produced to sell at a lower price point.
However, all of the cars that are sold in the United States are made in North American nations. The vast majority of these vehicles are made in the U.S, with a small number being manufactured in either Canada or Mexico.
Even in doing this, Ford has some of the most competitive prices on the market, which demonstrates its overall commitment to offering the best possible vehicles to the general public at the best possible price. This matches the history of Ford Motor Companies, as the company was the first automotive manufacturer to offer a fair daily wage for work done, and it created the moving assembly line to reduce time and cost associated with vehicle production.
What did this do for the American economy? This lowered production costs, lowered costs to consumers, and made cars available to the public masses - the result of this was a “moving economy”, and this brought about massive positive changes in the American middle class.
To this day, people enjoy the fact that Ford keeps to this mentality and holds policies in place that ensure that it continues to stimulate the American economy while protecting its own financial interests.
As time goes on, people expect more out of car manufacturers. As consumers, we expect safer vehicles, improved fuel economy, more bells, more whistles, and more functionality. The last couple of decades have seen the addition of back-up cameras, self-parking cars, built-in GPS systems, internal 4G Wi-Fi, and numerous other technological advances.
Many of these advances come from automotive engineering, others come from partnerships with other technology companies. Ford has consistently led the way in the development of automotive innovation when its engineers have the capacity to do so, and it also leads in forming partnerships with tech companies to continue to push the envelope.
