Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are an essential component of a vehicle’s ignition system. They are responsible for generating the spark that ignites the fuel in the engine’s combustion chamber. Spark plugs are typically made of a ceramic insulator with a metal electrode at the tip. The electrode is connected to the vehicle’s ignition system and produces a spark when a voltage is applied across the gap between the electrode and a ground terminal.

Spark plugs are usually located in the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine and are screwed into the engine block. They have a threaded end that screws into the cylinder head and a terminal end that sticks out from the engine block.

There are several types of spark plugs, including conventional spark plugs, iridium spark plugs, and platinum spark plugs. Conventional spark plugs are made of a copper core electrode and are typically less expensive than other types of spark plugs. Iridium spark plugs are made of an iridium electrode and are known for their long lifespan and high performance. Platinum spark plugs are made of a platinum electrode and are also known for their long lifespan, but they are not as high performance as iridium spark plugs.

It is important to regularly check and replace spark plugs as needed to ensure that your vehicle is running efficiently and reliably. If a spark plug is worn out or faulty, it can cause engine misfires and reduced performance.
