What are exhaust pipes and what do they do?
An exhaust pipe is a component of an automobile’s exhaust system that directs exhaust gases away from the engine and towards the back of the vehicle. It is typically made of steel or aluminum and is designed to withstand the high temperatures and pressures of the exhaust gases. An auto muffler is a device that is installed in the exhaust system to reduce the amount of noise that the engine produces. It does this by using a series of perforated tubes and resonating chambers to cancel out sound waves. Some mufflers also have a fiberglass or other type of insulation material to help reduce noise. The muffler is usually located near the back of the vehicle, after the catalytic converter.
